She also co-founded and was co-designer for the Belgian design label Ti + Hann between 2007 and 2012. Thereafter, Hanne began to focus on designing and developing products which would have a social impact on the communities producing them.
In 2013, she travelled to Guatemala and set up the design label QUE ONDA VOS. Through QUE ONDA VOS, she develops hand-woven products in partnership with the indigenous population. Using their traditional spinning and weaving techniques, combined with natural materials and painting techniques she has been able to raise awareness about responsible consumption. In this way, QUE ONDA VOS keeps alive and promotes the centuries-old weaving traditions of the Maya people - a practice that mass production threatens to make extinct. The initiative has also created jobs for people in indigenous communities with guaranteed fair pay.
For her new designs, Hanne is experimenting with some changes to the way in which the process is structured.
QUE ONDA VOS represents respect: respect for people and nature. Hanne De Wyngaert works with Mayan weavers in Guatemala to design and produce rugs.
The entire development process of the rugs is done by hand using a selection of natural materials, plants and minerals.
