Awards 15

On January 13, 2015, the Henry van de Velde Awards and Labels were presented for the 22nd time. Discover who won the Awards in 2015 at Bozar and find out more about them.

The Henry van de Velde Awards started in 1994. Since then, society and design have changed considerably. The focus of the Henry van de Velde Awards remains on the designer and the companies. Designers, because creative people remain the driving for for creation, and companies, because they enable a lot of creations.

Design Vlaanderen wants to show Flanders its creativity and entrepreneurship through the awards. We emphasize this with 3 prizes, each 5.000 euros worthy, and a silver trophy, designed by Rembrandt Jordan. On top of these 3 prices, we added the prize of the Public, 2.500 euros worthy.

Design prizes and labels are intended not only to celebrate people or products, but above all to identify and signal fundamental developments and shifts. Design was for long an under-used instrument and was utilized only for aesthetic or formal aspects. The 19 products that have received a Label indicate how broadly design and its various methods are applied nowadays. This edition saw more than 206 submissions and 65 nominations. A group of experts selected 19 winners.

The Henry van de Velde Award for Career, Company, Young Talent and the Henry van de Velde Award for the Public, were distributed respectively to Paul Verhaert, Materialise, Made en Daily-Needs. There were also 2 OVAM Ecodesign Award PRO'15 winners. Besides, 19 products and services, that launched onto the market in 2015, received the Henry van de Velde Label 2015.
